The Perfumed Plume Awards Open Submissions

Celebrates writers whose 2020 published editorials or books provide a broader awareness and appreciation for fragrance.

The organizers of the Perfumed Plume Awards for Fragrance Journalism have opened submissions and are welcoming entrants for 2021.

The Perfumed Plume Awards showcase writers whose published editorials or books provide a broader awareness and appreciation for fragrance through informative and entertaining “scent-centric” stories.

Co-founders Lyn Leigh and Mary Ellen Lapsansky both agree that “despite all the ups and downs of this year, including wearing face masks, no force alive can vanquish the positive, satisfying experience gained as you breathe in the words of an uplifting, enlightening, entertaining and thoroughly engaging fragrance story. Stories that illuminate the magic and mystery of scent as written by some of the most talented journalists on earth. Thank you for sharing your brilliance!”

Award Guidelines

Fragrance articles must focus on generic information about scent in an original, creative and unique style that engages and educates the consumer on the art and craft of fragrance. The articles should give an inside view of the cultural, historic, scientific and personal approaches to fragrance design and what it takes to create an evocative scent.

The 2021 categories are as follows:

  • Scent Stories in mainstream media – print – magazines & newspapers
  • Scent Stories in digital media – digital magazines, newspapers, blog postings, webzines
  • Visualization of Scent Stories – print & digital
  • Short ‘n Sweet Scent Stories – print or digital
  • Instapost – Scent Stories on Instagram
  • Fragrance Books

Specific criteria for each of the six categories, including entry forms, can be found at perfumedplume.com.

The awards celebration will take place virtually — or live depending upon the situation — in April 2021.
